Форсайт, Эндрю Рассел(Andrew Russel Forsyth) — английский математик. Род. в 1858. В 1882 г. профессор математики в университетском колледже в Ливерпуле. С 1884 г. — в Кембридже, как в Trinity College, так и в университете. Учено-литературная деятельность Ф. началась с 1880 г. статьями "Vortex-motion in viscous fluids" ("The Messenger of Mathematics", IX) и
("The
Quarterly Journal of pure and applied Mathematics", XVII). Из последующих его
работ, весьма многочисленных, назовем следующие "Symm. function of the roots of
an equation" ("Messenger of Math.", X, 1881); "Porism of the in- and
circumscribed polygon" (там же). "A series for 1/π" (там же, XII, 1883); "On a
theorem of Jacobi's" ("Quart. Journal of Math.", 1882); "App rox. formula
for x when x is large" ("Reports of the British Association for
the advancement of science", 1884); "In- and circumscribed polyedra"
("Proceedings of the London Mathematical Society", XIV, 1883); "Mem. on the
theta-functions, patric those of 2 variables" ("Philosophical Transactions of
the Royal Society of London", CLXXIII, 1883); "Abel's theorem and Abelian
functions" ("Proceedings of the Royal Society of London", XXXIV,).
